Force Calculator
Solve force, mass, or acceleration with Newton's second law
On this device
What does this calculator do?
Solve force, mass, or acceleration with Newton’s second law and convert common units locally.
Inputs
- Any two of force, mass, and acceleration
- Units for each supplied quantity
Outputs
- The missing quantity
- All three quantities in the selected units and equivalent force values
Formula and method
Force = mass × acceleration. Values are converted to SI units before solving, then converted back to the selected display units.
Worked example
10 kg × 3 m/s² = 30 N.
How to interpret the result
The result describes an ideal net force relationship; it is not a complete model of friction, drag, or a real structure.
Common mistakes
- Mixing pounds-force and pounds-mass
- Using acceleration in g without checking the unit
- Entering a zero denominator when solving for mass or acceleration
Assumptions
- Inputs are non-negative magnitudes
- Newtonian units and standard gravity conversion are used
Limitations
- Relativistic and vector effects are not modeled
- The tool does not provide engineering or safety advice
Frequently asked questions
